How to Download and Use SewArt for Mac

SewArt is a software tool used to convert digital graphics images (in vector format or raster format) to a stitch file that will be sewn on an embroidery machine. The tool features a step-by-step wizard and a variety of processing tools to process images to make them suitable for a high-quality stitch-out. To get a high-quality embroidery file using this software, you have to create an image with regions that have uniform colors. SewArt already comes with lots of image processing tools to help you achieve those suitable images (also known as clean images).

Apart from images in raster and vector format, SewArt also supports formats such as Janome, Brother, .PES, Singer, and .JEF. Files in these formats can be converted to different embroidery file formats that are compatible with most embroidery machines (both commercial and home) using some other embroidery editors such as SewWhat-Pro.

How to Download & Use SewArt for Mac

SewArt is a paid app that you can install on your PC although, there is an official version for only Windows operating system. For Mac users who would like to run this software on their MacBook, we will be exploring the steps shortly. Before we go there, let us take a look at the features of SewArt.

Features of SewArt

  • It supports images in formats like vector, raster, .bmp format, .JPG, .PNG, .GIF, .WMF, .EMF and .SVG.
  • The software allows you to paste images in other file formats in the SewArt workspace.
  • It supports a variety of output embroidery file formats such as .DST, .PES, .JEF, Janome (c), .EXP, Melco (c), .VIP, Viking (c), Viking SE (c), Singer (c) and .VP3.
  • It features a variety of image processing tools that converts images, reduces the color in them, and smoothens them for digitization.
  • It features both manual and automatic digitization so that the user can have enough control when digitizing images.

Now that we have highlighted the features of SewArt, the next thing is to discuss how to download this software to your MacBook.

To download and use SewArt on your MacBook, you will need to download and install an emulator. Without an emulator, you cannot run SewArt, and once you install the emulator, you will be able to run all compatible Windows software on your MacBook. There are different options to choose from, and many of them are free. Let’s check them out below:

How to Download SewArt on Mac using WineBottler, Wineskin, and PlayOnMac

To use any of these software tools, you need to install XQuartz first. After installing XQuartz, you can then install anyone out of WineBottler, Wineskin, or PlayOnMac. These software tools will allow you to install SewArt on your MacBook as well as any other Windows software without buying a Windows license. The only disadvantage is that all the features of SewArt may not be available as intended for a normal Windows PC.

There are some other free emulators such as VirtualBox© or BootCamp© that you can use in place of the above-mentioned ones. You must, however, install a copy of the Windows operating system on your MacBook for them to work.

How to Use SewArt on Mac using CrossOver

This software costs $59.95, and you need to install XQuartz first before you can install Crossover on Mac. This software lets you switch from one Mac program to a Windows program without rebooting or restarting your MacBook. It also does not require a Windows license or a virtual machine.

How to Run SewArt on Mac using Parallels and VMWare Fusion

These tools cost $79.99 and $119.99, respectively. They are the most reliable emulators to run SewArt, and you need to install a copy of Windows on your MacBook to be able to use them.

  • After installing any of these emulators, use the “Mac Download” link to download “SewArt”.
  • Click on “Save.”
  • From the “Emulator,” run the Mac Installer to get the icon for SewArt on the emulator desktop screen.

Conclusion

Not every Windows application is available officially for MacBook and SewArt is one of them. This is why MacBook users have to install emulators to replicate a Windows operating system environment on their MacBook computer. Any of the emulators mentioned above will do the job depending on your preference. So, let us know which one works for you.
