Looking for handy software to create a video with voice-over? Then our article is the right thing for you. Dive in and explore the top 3 video-editing programs.
Windows Movie Maker
We’ll start with the well-known Windows Movie Maker. This software can help you create a short movie from your video files, various images, some background music, and narration. This program allows you to add video effects along with titles and transitions to your movie. Windows Movie Maker used to come pre-installed on Windows-based PCs. But since Jan. 10, 2017, Microsoft removed it from the standard OS package and offered customers to purchase a different video-editing program from the Store. But if you own a computer based on an older version of Windows OS or have downloaded Windows Movie Maker from the Internet, there’s a short guide on how to add voice-over to a video with this software.
Firstly, install and start Windows Movie Maker on your personal computer. Then click on the main screen to import the chosen clip from your library. After that, navigate to the Home tab, pick the Record Narration option, click Record, and start speaking. Stop recording when you’ve narrated the entire script. Now you need to save your recording to a file, then it’ll appear in the editor. If you have a pre-recorded soundtrack, you can add it to your clip too. When finished editing your narrative video, switch to the Files tab to save it.
Clipify
The next handy tool for adding voice-over to a video is Clipify. With its help, you can record your own narration, edit this recording, and add it to your short film in a couple of minutes. This software is 100% compatible with Windows operating systems from the 7th to the latest one, by the way, you can download Clipify and start editing your videos for free. This well-packed video-maker has an intuitive interface and lots of video editing tools to rotate, reframe and crop your clips, color-correct them, and even swap the background with the one you want. Now let’s see how to voice over a video in a few simple steps with Clipify.
Start with downloading this editor and installing it on your laptop or PC. Run the program and click Blank Project. Then choose the Add Videos and Photos option and upload your video. Double-click the voice-over timeline at the bottom of the screen, the Audio Recording tool will open, then start speaking. If you need to edit your narration, there are built-in tools to adjust the codec, sample, mode, and bitrate of your recording. Alternatively, you can upload any pre-recorded audio file from your library. To do that double-click the audio timeline in the middle. Then change the volume of your soundtrack, add fade-in and fade-out effects to it and cut or split your recording. When happy with the result, click Save and choose the format that suits you most.
Kapwing
The third video-making tool on our list is Kapwing. This web-based video editor allows you to loop, resize and trim your clips, and further enhance them with filters. You can also add an audio file and adjust its settings or create a voice-over video with your own narration. To do that you’ll need to go to the official Kapwing website and open the online editor. Choose the Start Editing option and click on the startup screen to import the video you want to voice over. Then switch to the Audio tab and click Record, there you’ll see a dropdown list, pick the microphone from it. Now hit the red button to start recording your voice and click this button again to stop recording. Your unique soundtrack will be automatically added to the timeline. Alternatively, you can upload a premade voice-over from your PC.
Kapwing allows you to change the speed and volume of your audio file, add fade-in and fade-out effects to it, and split or trim your recording. When ready, click the Export Video button and save your video. If your just-made movie is shorter than 5 minutes, you’ll need to log into the Kapwing website to download it without any watermarks. To export longer clips, you’ll have to purchase a subscription.
